Some may consider this statement as a bold one regarding the sport of paintball but I should start with this first statement. Paintball has been categorized as an "extreme" sport but it is one of the safest sports currently played today. I agree that the game is extreme because it is intense but safe because people are careful.

Players take it seriously which makes paintball one of the safest sports to play. A good game of paintball can only be played decently if accompanied by responsibility and accountability. You must keep in mind that caution is the word of the day because paintball has the potential of being dangerous.

PSP ( Paintball Sports Promotion ), has kept a fact that the world of paintball has a huge injury myth. The myth is not supported by any statistical data but it is in the minds of the general public. The fact is that the rare but highly publicized "eye injury" almost always occurs when the proper protective gear is not worn has been hard lined by the Industry. Another reason is the game being played on fields that are unsupervised and often illegal.

Paintball has the lowest injury rate of any extreme sport. This is supported by statistical data which shows that only .2 injuries per 1,000 exposures ever occur. According to Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association, the average player will suffer an injury about once every 500 years.

Amongst all the gear involved the sport of paintball, goggles are the number one priority. Playing the game can be termed as extremely safe if a regulated field is chosen. Some features of regulated fields are that wearing of goggles is mandatory at all times while on the field and use of barrel plugs or barrel socks are also employed by field owners to block accidental discharge of paintballs from guns (markers) in staging areas.

If we see an overall picture in comparison to other sports of today like soccer, tennis, and even bowling, paintball stands safer than them. I must mention here that this game is played mostly by girls and guys ages 12 -24. I can't tell you how much fun I have when I have the chance to get out there inspite my age being 35 years. Age doesn't matter so much if the player is active enough. I have seen guys as old as 45 enjoying the game thoroughly.

No discounted UMD transfers to Vita for US, angel loses its wings (Engadget)

Hey, America ... no soup for you! Vita apparently means no discounted
downloads of your beloved disc-based PSP games as _Kotaku_ reports Sony won't
be offering its "UMD Passport" service in the US. Since December, Sony has let
existing Japanese PSP owners upgrade UMD games to Vita downloadable copies for
around ¥500-1,000 ($6.50 - $13). Penny-pinching US gamers can perhaps console
themselves with the fact that they can still get a discount for digital
downloads of Vita games. Well, that or make hungry eyes for free at Vitas
displayed in kiosks at select stores.
